The Dark Knight

July 19, 2008 at 5:03 pm

Went and saw this with Scott, Stacy, and Leo at a midnight showing in Santa Monica following the Joystiq Post-E3 2008 Party. Without spoiling anything, I can say that this movie is in league with Iron Man for best comic movie. Hell it might even be the best comic movie ever, it was that good.

It did run kind of long, only two hours and thirty some minutes but well worth the time spent. This movie is well worth the $12 I spent on it.

Anime Expo 08 Afterthoughts

July 10, 2008 at 4:05 am

A few day’s rest and I’m good as new! Finally getting back to normal after a weekend of fun.

I came away with quite the number of goodies.
Saber Marionette J Poster
Negima!? Konoka Poster
Akari, Hisui & Kohaku Figures
Aoi, Lemmy & Serio Figures
Kotone & Ayaka Figures
The lot of 6 To Heart figures came from the dealer behind the Broccoli booth. $75 for all 6!

As for the convention itself, in my opinion it was a great success. Only one massive boo-boo that I heard about throughout the entire con. The shuttles were excellent, LAPD presence was great, LACC staff were stellar, Nokia Theater is awesome. The only thing lacking from the LACC is location of close restaurants and hotels. Only the Holiday Inn and Hotel Figueroa were in “walking distance” to the venue, not including the Stillwell and Ritz-Milner for obvious reasons. As for food.. well get ready to walk! Up between 9th and 8th on Figueroa is a Denny’s, on the corners of 8th and Flower is a 24 hour IHOP and Subway. Up the street a little more is 7th & Fig, a little shopping mall. It’s pretty good except for the fact that it shuts down at 7pm.

AX09 is going to take place at the LACC as well. Hopefully the anime industry recovers by then and some more of the LA Live project finishes up.

So It Begins!

July 2, 2008 at 9:41 am

It’s here! Anime Expo begins in less than a day!

Yeah I kinda fell off the internet for a little bit but I’m back!

Heading Off!

May 15, 2008 at 5:47 am

It’s so early! I haven’t woken up this early in a long time. Just checking on some stuff, then I gotta finalize my luggage and head off to the airport! I’ll post again from Chicago later

Gas Prices…

It’s finally happened. I am now paying over $4.00 a gallon. Woe is me.

Heat Emergency

April 29, 2008 at 2:55 am

If you live in Southern California, then you damn well know it has been hot for the past few days. If you have ever been to my house, then you really have experienced the heat. The moment you step inside, it feels ten degrees hotter than it is outside. Normally on hot days like that, I mill around doing nothing but sweating my ass off and bitching about the heat. This time around I didn’t because of a computer heat issue. Something was bugging me because my computer would randomly lockup overnight. It’s not normal for my computer to lockup without any interaction from me, so I looked into it and found out that my shit was overheating.

Yeah, that’s right. Look at the CPU temperature. 76ÂșC. All the Q6600 core temps were too damn high. Something was definitely wrong here. Upon the discovery of the overheating problem, I promptly shut everything down. I headed off to Fry’s in search for a new case with lots of airflow and picked up the Antec Nine Hundered.

This case is so awesome, the giant fans push so much air with little noise. I have them set to high and my old case fans were louder than these.

Lucky Star Vol.1

April 29, 2008 at 2:29 am

It’s finally here, the first volume of Lucky Star. I didn’t get a chance to watch it dubbed last night, but I will do so tonight. This will be a blast !

A New BOOKOFF

April 23, 2008 at 10:29 am

I was in San Diego yesterday, while I was there I hung out with Hinatanko and checked out the new BOOKOFF! Well it’s new to me, it wasn’t there before last time I swung by Clairemont Mesa area.

What is BOOKOFF? It’s basically a bookstore that originated from Japan. They sell used books, video games and DVDs. I was hoping to pick up a used copy of Snakes on a Plane there but sadly it wasn’t there. Aside from being your usual store that sells used goods, they also have Japanese used goods. Yes that means you can pick up old issues of NewType or Megami and look for old used manga as well.

Upcoming Convention Schedule

March 27, 2008 at 12:03 pm

It’s that time of year again, Con Season has reared it’s ugly head back into the limelight. In this posting, I will list the conventions I am planning on attending this year. Of course nothing is final until the month of said convention. So with that out of the way, lets begin!

Why AnimeCentral? Why so damn far? I don’t know exactly why myself, to be quite honest. It is one of those “spur-of-the-moment” decisions. I do plan on meeting with a number of people while at ACen and hanging out afterwards.

A couple of planned events would be the Fansubber panel and the Bemanistyle panel.

Ah the grand daddy of them all here in the States, Anime Expo. This year is no exception with it’s new location and the loss of Geneon as a whole will make this convention interesting needless to say. I’m all over the place for this one such as the industry panels and other miscellaneous spots.

The other grand daddy of open conventions is the San Diego International Comic Con. Last year they had to cap out registrations because they convention center was at capacity already. Generally I talk shit on Comic Con since the convention itself has lost it’s primary focus of comics. It is really about everything now and with a huge mix of Hollywood.

I’m not too sure if you can really call this a convention, but it is a pretty damn large tournament. I’ve never been to any of the EVO series up there in Las Vegas but I feel good about this year. Hopefully to play some Melty Blood and meet with other players that I play online.

The last one in this series of madness is the E For All Expo. Last year it somewhat tanked but did good seeing that it was the first year. Hopefully they get more companies on board for displaying to the general public.

If anyone that reads this wants to meet up, fire a message.

Sayo & Niigi and Their Conversations

March 19, 2008 at 2:47 pm

Thought you had enough with that video of Fumiko? Haha! Think again! This time I teamed up Sayo and Niigi GB and recorded all of the nonsense that spewed out of their mouths.

I have more of these on the way. Just gotta get around to encoding them.

The video is embedded after the more, or you can always just click this link. Read more »

More Fun With Castle Shikigami 2

March 18, 2008 at 10:17 am

Since the Y-Splitters arrived on Saturday, I rearranged the living room electronics to put them in. The Y-Splitters were ordered so I would be able to record audio/video directly from the PS2 while playing at the same time.

Testing it out I played through the entire game of Castle Shikigami 2 with Fumiko O.V., a character I never used before, and recorded the entire thing. Her dialogue isn’t as bad as others but she has her moments!

Here is the link or if you just want to watch it embedded, click on the more. There are more videos on the way including team videos! Read more »

Eternal Sonata With Mini-Review

March 17, 2008 at 6:39 pm

Another offender just like Blue Dragon is this game called Eternal Sonata. I bought it when it first came out, even got the faceplate for the 360 and it has yet to be opened. Since Blue Dragon wasn’t working, I finally opened the game up and have spent 10 hours into the night playing it. My little review of the game is after the “more”. Read more »

Blue Dragon, Too Bad So Sad

March 17, 2008 at 6:21 pm

So my 360 came back a few days ago and yesterday I finally decided to put Blue Dragon into my system. I have a GameFly subscription and Blue Dragon arrived at my house around October-November of last year. So it has been sitting on the counter since then and hasn’t been played once. Not only is that a waste of subscription, but a waste of money. So finally I decided to go play it and three hours into the game I find that my 360 was unable to continue playing it. It turns out that the disc is scratched in one section near the edge and where I am at is right where the scratch is. So back to GameFly you go, after sitting in my house for too long unplayed.

Castle Shikigami 2

March 4, 2008 at 11:35 pm

Let me begin with a story. A couple years back, I was in the LA area with Midori_Sour visiting Ledgem, AshM, and Kinovas. We went to the CityWalk at Universal Studios where they have the giant Electronics Boutique store and we browsed the store. Ledgem gets carded because he looked under 18 (it was curfew time when we went.) while inside. I see this game called Castle Shikigami 2 for $9.99 and it looked interesting.

You can’t lose for only $9.99, it’s not like I am shelling out $49.99 for a game I have never heard of.

So that is the story and years later I still haven’t beat this game. This had to change today, so I sat down and recorded myself playing the game to the fullest. I broke the videos up by stages due to the YouTube 10 minute limitations.
Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3
Stage 4
Stage 5
The quality of the videos is kind of lacking, you can only do so much when you are filming an old television. Hopefully soon I will be looking for an audio/video Y splitter so I can have my normal output and an output to the GameBridge to record videos at the same time.
